Smooth Salsa is a Birmingham based team of Salsa Instructors run by Michael Pottinger who has been teaching salsa in Birmingham for around 14 years along with his dance partner and dear friend, Maxine Stephens.

Smooth Salsa also offer 1-2-1 private salsa tuition too for those that are keen and want to develop a little quicker. Our aim is to provide you with high quality salsa tuition whilst maintaining a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

The Smooth Salsa team can also provide fun lessons for Weddings, Private Parties and Corporate Events if you are looking for a burst of life and positive energy for an event. It's a great way to get employees to connect and relate in a fun, relaxing environment.
Monthly parties are held on the first Saturday of each month and at these parties we tend to include lessons in Salsa and on occasion Kizomba too!
Our parties have been growing steadily each month putting Smooth Salsa and Aston University on the Salsa map. We are now considered as holding the best party in Birmingham due to the friendly environment we have, our venue, our classes, the music we play along with the volumes of people that attend.
We are asked frequently by our attendees whether we would consider holding the parties fortnightly and some even would like us to consider doing a weekly event. At the moment we are going to continue with our monthly party structure as this seems to be working for us.
I still have fond memories of when the Smooth Salsa parties were held at The Irish Centre in Digbeth a few years ago. We averaged 80 people back then but now things have changed and with sheer perseverance we now average over 200 guests.
