Starting Monday July 26th 2010 Smooth Salsa are proud to announce the launch of a new Monday night of Salsa! Each & every Monday we will be holding Salsa classes & a party at the Colosseum, Acocks Green!

You can catch members of the Smooth Salsa team down in Olton on Warwick Road/Olton Boulevard East, at The Colosseum. The Colosseum can be found just 2 minutes down the road from Acocks Green Village heading towards Solihull. Click on the image above for google map & location. The Colosseum used to be known as Zorba's Restaurant which you will see indicated on the map just below Gospel Lane.
At The Colosseum you can catch Michael & Maxine teaching a beginners class from 7:30pm until 8:30pm. We will incorporate an improver level class at a later date from 8:30pm-9:30pm. Amazing Value! Classes cost £5 per class or £6 for 2 classes once more classes are introduced.
We will then party until 11:30pm/12am playing the best in Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba. Admission is free for the social party afterwards.
The Colosseum is ideally located on the Warwick Road (A41) & Olton Boulevard East. This venue has its own car parking at the front with additional parking spaces located within close proximity. The club boasts separate dance area, seating area & out-door smoking area .
I am proud to announce that Aston University is back once again, with our launch which took place on Monday 6th October. Now Aston University have decided to make a few changes with regards to the salsa class from last year.
It is now open to the general public which is great as we have a massive dance floor capacity! Secondly, the class is 1hour 30 minutes long for a whooping £3.50, this is crazy value for money! Now my favorite new addition to the Monday is the fact that we now have the opportunity to dance afterwards in Einstein's down stairs which is the onsite student bar. The Class starts at 7:30pm & finishes at 9pm!
Last year students came to the class & then had nowhere to dance afterwards with the only option of going to Bar Risa the following day on a Tuesday or Thursday. Now you can dance straight after the class practice what we teach & still go to Bar Risa to impress the other Salseros during the week!
Below is a map of the campus with a black arrow indicating where the Salsa is held on the campus. The salsa lesson is held in the Student Guild's building & the bar, Einnstein's is next door. I know the image is not great but if you can see the grey road at the top of the map, that is the A38. Coming from the left of the map towards the right of the map is heading in towards Birmingham City Centre. A special thanks also goes out to Sofía Sjöwall-Martínez of Aston Diablos who has also created a spectacular video, which is a collage of Smooth Salsa classes from the Monday nights at Aston University.
Smooth Salsa have now located another studio to conduct our Salsa classes. This Studio is called Sticky Dance Studio & is based on Lionel Street at Arch 22, Birmingham City Centre, B3 1DL. If you head down Lionel Street towards Constitution Hill & Old Snowhill, the studio is directly underneath the railway bridge between Livery Street & Old Snowhill. Unfortunately there is no visible sign until you are in front of the studio. The navy blue door or the shutter should be open.
The Instructors on the day will be Michael, Maxine along with other instructors from the team. The cost of the class is £5 per hour or £8 for 2 hours. For students with valid NUS, the cost of the classes are £3 for 1 hour & £5 for 2 hours. Click on this link for Google map.
On Wednesday we teach a Beginners "On1" Salsa Class, class starts at 8pm until 9pm in the mirrored Dance Studio. On Friday Michael teaches an Improvers Class "On1" from 7pm until 9:30pm. For lesson costs contact the centre direct on 0121 524 1950.
